Who am I

I am a qualified counsellor who is accountable to BACP (British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy) and I can offer a confidential, safe place for people to talk about their concerns. As part of my practice I am required to attend regular supervision. I work flexibly within my professional clinical boundaries and within the BACP Code of ethics.

I work integratively, which means using a variety of techniques, and mainly humanistically, so I work with the person, not their diagnosis, nor condition. I work with two main areas, contact and awareness. I work with individuals, couples and groups.

My Experience

I have experience of working with a variety of individuals and couples of opposite and same sexes and from different cultural backgrounds. I have worked in a voluntary agencies including MIND, RELATE, METRO, Hungerford (drugs / alcohol), LGBT charities and the NHS.

I also have several years experience working with gay men, I worked as a Sexual Health Counsellor at PACE. I have also worked with LGBT people affected by drugs / alcohol, and I have several years experience of working with individuals / couples affected by HIV at The Terrence Higgins Trust in London. I have worked as a counsellor for the NHS for several years, both in mental health and in a community setting, and clinic with HIV issues.

I am LGBT Affirmative in my approach. I am aware of how people are stigmatised and marginalised by their sexuality, HIV status so I am sensitive to these issues in my approach. I work discretely and confidentially. I work with individuals accepting their sexuality and living with HIV, and how prejudices and stigma impact on them.
